The Innocent in 80s has been in circulation for many years yet, until now, the series was never exhibited. Now, at long last, The Innocent in 80s will finally be presented to the public.

The images in The Innocent in the 80s were taken between 1979 and 1989, spanning the entire decade of the1980s. Ren Shulin was twenty-five at the time, at the end of his own adolescence, and took photographs in a Beijing middle school for ten years, leaving behind a complete photographic record of youth in the 1980s, the end of an idealistic era.

More than twenty years later, after two years of selection and preparation, this exhibition will present 160 of Ren Shulin's photographs of these middle school students. These acid-free prints come down to us through the dust of time and space to be presented in this exciting exhibition.

Ren was an important member of the April Photography Society in the late 1970s.
